Dan:
Oysterhead - “Pseudo Suicide”
Well, this week marks the last Bonnaroo themed song of the week. To honor the occasion, I’ve chosen a song from the band I’m most excited to be interviewing [more than Radiohead, it's true]. Oysterhead. This song is some hard-rockin’, boot-knockin’, baby-killin’, slayer thrashin’ goods.
Nate:
Devendra Banhart - “Canela”
“Cripple Crow”, Devendra Banhart’s fourth full length album, is about being a brother, a father, a son, and a husband. It’s about family. There are gems of wisdom, insights into the youth, dreams of children, and finding a person who will be there through thick and thin. There is love all in there. Mingling and seeping into the cracks. “Canela” is really Banhart’s song for his wife. It’s his statement of purpose in this family, why this family will work. It’s a love-song sure, but it’s not about idolatry. It’s something real. It’s about keeping this footing equal, keeping it passionate, and keeping it bound. Through a bare piano and a delicate voice, he let’s us into his home. Devendra isn’t trying to make a family, he’s trying to raise one.
Amit:
The Magic Numbers - “Mornings Eleven”
“You’re in denial/What’s my name?”. His name is Romeo Stodart. The denial part? His mom, Juliet Stodart, probably doesn’t want to admit she has a reverse Oedipus Complex. Regardles, not-so-star-crossed Romeo and his band can play/sing an indie song with poppy highs and lamenting lows like none other. With a wide range of instruments (banjo) and vocals (female harmonies) The Magic Numbers are sure to put on quite an act this weekend at Bonnaroo. Rumored encore: Romeo & Juliet hook-up on stage (it is in Tennessee).

Devotchka - “The Last Beat Of My Heart”
I first heard of these guys from KCRW and come Thursday the 15th, they’ll be welcoming us at ‘Roo. They kinda remind me of Starsailor and that’s not a bad thing.
Amit:
Gomez - “How We Operate”
A banjo, a raspy voice and a 5 note repeating riff make the title track to Gomez’s 7th album release one of their best to date. Can’t wait to hear this song live at Bonnaroo.

Amit:
Seu Jorge - “Rebel Rebel”
Seu Jorge is a man with a voice and a classical guitar. He needs nothing more to produce the perfect under-the-sun/summer sound that’ll make a great addition to this year’s Bonnaroo music festival. Take a listen to his Portuguese rendition of a David Bowie favorite from the movie The Life Aquatic.
Dan:
Bright Eyes - “First Day Of My Life”
For my friend.
