It’s true. The extremely talented singer/songwriter Ryan Adams made a rap single titled “Look Who Got a Website” to backdrop his new official site. The track’s very reminiscent of Beck’s “Hollywood Freaks” from the wildly eclectic release, “Midnight Vultures.” Some noteworthy lyrics Ryan Adams include:
“This website is updated by witches”
“Awwww shit. Look who got a website. That’s right. Dot Com. What the fuck?”
“With a bottle of whisky and a wizard and a mime”
“Kevin Bacon, WHAT THE FUCK?”

MTV U, MTV’s attempt at being a college radio station and a source for all things “indie” and “unheard” of has put up The Decemberists’ new album “The Crane Wife” in its entirety for our streaming pleasure. According to MTV, the album “is a tragic Japanese folktale turned epic Americana-flavored rock-opera, rife with greed, abduction, rape and death.” Yikes. “The Crane Wife” comes out next week on Capitol records.

Beck - “Nausea”
Prolific singer, songwriter and Scientologist, Beck, is back with a brand new album titled “The Information.” No word on what the single is going to be, but my money’s on “Nausea.” The song’s just suave with it’s organic beat and off kilter lyrics we’ve grown to expect since the days of “Loser.” Get down with it, just don’t get dizzy.
The Polyphonic Spree - “Lithium”
What happens when a cult-like band known for sun-worshiping songs covers grunge music? It becomes pure cyanide mixed with red Kool-aide magic. The opening piano licks lead you to believe we’re in for yet another happy-go-lucky song about celestial objects. But, oh no. A screaming chorus of voices explodes with iconic Nirvana lyrics like “I’m so happy because today I’ve found my friends/They’re in my head” and “I’m so horny, but that’s okay.” The Spree’s cover of “Lithium” sounds like a church choir starting their Sunday morning not with God, but with a drug that “counteract[s] both mania and depression” (WP). Just imaging a scene like that centers my bipolar nature.

Ben Folds decided to show off his musical chops on the Australian TV show “jTV” by covering The Postal Service’s “Such Great Heights.” He, along with three local drummers, used household instruments like a wine glass, a wooden spoon, and a mailbox covered with a towel to recreate the melodic electronic sounds of Dntel. Hopefully the track will be released as a B-side or illegal download.

ABC’s powerhouse medical series, “Grey’s Anatomy” is not only known for romantic drama, suspense, crying, bad medical ethics, and hints of comedy, it’s also a catapult for musical acts like The Fray and Snow Patrol. Gary Lightbody, Snow Patrol’s front man, owes their recent snowballing success to a song “Chasing Cars” playing during the final few minutes of the season two finale. Recently, the band went even as far as to re-cut scenes of “Grey’s” into the music video. Lightbody told AOL Music,
“It’s very strange to have people coming to the band just on the back of one song, ’cause we’re very much an albums band and we want to win people over with our live show or whole record rather than some TV show they saw. [But], if people come along because of that, then we’ll win them over.”
