Gnarls Barkley’s “Smiley Faces”
by dan

The best just keeps on keeping on. Check out the video for Gnarls Barkley’s “Smiley Faces.” What can I say? It’s got Dennis Hopper, that dude from Quantum Leap, and the “story” features Cee-lo and Danger Mouse playing with the likes of Bowie, Lou Reed, Duke Ellington, and much more. It all goes to show exactly why Gnarls Barkley’s one of the most exciting musical groups of the past decade.

Kyle Cease’s “One Dimple” Released Today
by amit

Comedian Kyle Cease (the Slow Clapper in Not Another Teen Movie) has released his first full-length stand-up album titled “One Dimple” from his recent 68 college tour. The album includes a DVD with a road trip documentary and clips from the more memorable shows across the country. What sets the twenty-eight year old comic apart is that he seems to have a grasp on generation-specific humor (see clips below) which is why he jokes old people and high schoolers don’t get him. Take a look at a few bits of his and expect a full review of “One Dimple” coming soon.

Kyle’s thoughts on Nintendo, the Pillsbury Doughboy, and Sunny D.

Snakes on a Plane: The Music Video
by amit

What do you do with a band that has less talent than Fall Out Boy, an unbelievably bad name, a token hot blonde, and a token ethnic guy with a face ring? Obviously, give them the coveted job of playing the theme song to the most e-hyped movie of the summer Snakes on a Plane. That’s right. A band by the name of Cobra Starship allegedly used magnetic fridge poetry to piece together the title track to the reptile disaster movie at 35,000 feet called “”Snakes on a Plane (Bring It).” So plug up your ears, ready barf bag and hit play on what has to be the worst attempt at music we’ve ever heard.

Note: I started dry heaving after hearing these lyrics. Be warned.

“Oh! I’m ready for it. Come on. Bring it.”
“So kiss me good-bye. I can see the venom in your eyes.”

Bob Dylan’s New Album, “Modern Times,” Due In Aug.
by dan

Kati Llewellyn reports:
“The times, they are a-modernizin’. According to various reports, Bob Dylan’s newest record, Modern Times, will see an August 29 release. (Billboard.com says it’s his 44th album!) Track titles include “Ain’t Talkin’”, “Thunder on the Mountain”, “Spirit on the Water”, “Workingman’s Blues”, “When the Deal Goes Down”, and “Neddy Moore”.

Rolling Stone was given a sneak preview of Modern Times, which Dylan produced himself. According to the magazine’s website, the record “mixes elements of 2001’s Love and Theft - blues variations (think ‘Cry a While’) and whimsical ballads (think ‘Floater’) - with the darker, swampier vibe of the Daniel Lanois-produced classics Time Out of Mind and Oh Mercy.”"
