Hah! What do you get when you write a great song about our nation’s forefather and combine it with hand drawn hilarity? George F’ing Washington. Check it out.

I just found this on YouTube. It just might be the most racist cartoon I’ve ever laid eyes upon. It’s from 1943 and it’s a Merrie Melodies parody of Snow White. And, in case you’re wondering, it was banned (and rightly so).

Okay, some of you might have noticed some new things around here. At the very top you’ll see a new nav bar. p.s.s - We’ve been tinkering with our RSS feeds. If, for some reason, it doesn’t work for you–or has ceased working for you–try re-subscribing to the feed. That oughta fix it.

Comic book super-heroes have exploded onto celluloid reaching millions of moviegoers worldwide other than the usual audience of geeks and virgins. Unfortunately, many of the “mild-mannered” by day, “costumed freaks” by night have one thing in common. They’re all white. You’ll never find Batman, Robin, Superman, Spider-man, all the X-Men (except for Storm, who’s depicted as mixed), Daredevil, Elektra, Constantine, Ghost Rider, the Fantastic Four, the Punisher, or the Hulk watching UPN. Even their respective villains are white.

But, according to the NY Times, DC Comics is trying to change all that. They’re introducing Blue Beetle (a Mexican teenager with a magical scarab), Batwoman (lesbian by night, lesbian crime fighter by late-night) and the Great Ten (a team of Chinese hired by the government) to help diversify their comic book universe. What our readers may not know is that D.C. Comics have always had a “unique” and “happy” duo under their utility belt. Take a look at these real comic book clippings.

It’s reassuring to know D.C. Comics has taken the initiative to vary their comic book characters, but who’s going to play the super-heroes come time for the big screen? Let’s find out in this month’s issue of “Casting Call Crusaders.”

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, the celebrtiy/diplomat duo, have done the impossible. Thanks to the safe haven country of Namibia, they’ve managed to have a healthy baby far from the prying eyes of the press and paparazzi. But, truth be told, that isn’t the most startling news. It’s the baby’s name. Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt. That’s right, Jolie-Pitt named their firstborn after one of the most tragic events of the American Civil War (read more about the Battle of Shiloh). Now whenever people go to pinch her cheeks or comment on her cuteness, they’ll think “Wasn’t that the battle where ‘a total of 23,741 men were killed, wounded, captured, or missing, more than the American casualties of the American Revolutionary War, the War of 1812, and the Mexican War combined?’” Sadly and surprisingly, they’ll be 100% correct.

We’ve learned several celebrities have considered horrendous incidents in history as first names. C&V doesn’t know why, we just report the “facts.” Take a look at celebrity couples and their baby name contenders.
