Dan:
Gnarls Barkley - “Who Cares”
A couple years ago, Danger Mouse rocked your nads by meshing Jay-Z’s “Black Album” and The Beatles’ “White Album,” to create the (illegal) sensation, “The Gray Album.” Now he’s teamed up with hip-hop powerhouse, Cee-lo, to form Gnarls Barkley. Their debut, “St. Elsewhere,” is, hands-down, the greatest album of 2006 (so far). If you don’t have it, you should buy it. It’s the perfect accompaniment to your 4th of July barbecuing ballyhoo.

Guillemots - “Made Up Lovesong #43″
I didn’t expect a song titled “Made Up Love Song #43″ to be an outpour of emotions involving “sparks and shining dragons.” But it is. Luckily that’s not the song’s appeal. It’s the home-grown indie sound, down-tempo bass line, and sharp delayed guitar riff that make the track a worthwhile purchase or, in the least, a good 30 second listen.
