Amidst the heat at Bonnaroo I was lucky enough to sit down with the front man of Blues Traveler, John Popper, for a one-on-one only C&V could pull off. We laughed, we joked, and John even sang as we talked life, movies, and Jennifer Aniston. Check out a transcript of the interview after the jump or listen to it now.

Amit: If you could talk about anything besides music-I’m sure you’ve been hounded by music questions all weekend. What else is on Mr. John Popper’s mind?
John: Life. I mean-
A: Life.
J: -it’s on everybody’s mind here.
A: What was the last movie you saw?
J: Last movie I saw…you talkin’ in the theaters?
A: In the theater, yeah.
J: I think it was called Hostel. I think Hostel.
A: Hostel. Did you like that? That was the Eli Roth movie.
J: Yeah, no, actually I went and saw The Da Vinci Code. I was very annoyed.
A: [laughter] Annoyed. Did you read the book?
J: No. No.
A: You didn’t have to.
J: I went in with an open mind. I mean I’ve seen National Treasure. So, I’m a big history buff. So I knew I was going to be a little angry. You wanted to be like, “No that actually didn’t…” You know you see enough History Channel in preparation. You know? You’re ready-
A: You’re right.
J: -for what they’re trying to say.
A: There’s so many-
J: And the concept of the Grail is interesting and all that, but-
A: It is.
J: What really drove me nuts is that they just incidentally find out that the decedent of Jesus and Mary Magdalene IS IN THE CAR with Tom Hanks-
A: [laughter] That she’s this beautiful French woman.
J: Yeah. She just happens to be helping him solve the crimes. That convenience. Really just, it was like a “Aw c’mon.”-
A: That’s Dan Brown for you I guess.
J: [Sarcastically] God, it’s going to be so hard tracking down the decedents. It’s going to be a whole other part of the movie. God I’m glad-
A: And they’re making a prequel now. It’s already been signed. It’s been-
J: A prequel. Yeah. [movie trailer voice] Jesus and Mary Magdalene: The Early Years
A: The early years.
J: Riding on a bicycle. [singing] “Raindrops keep falling-
A: It’s going to be a romantic comedy.
J: -on my head.” Yeah. A romantic comedy. Jennifer Aniston is going to be Mary Magdalene.
A: Yeah.
J: [acting] “Oh Jesus.”
A: That sourpuss.
J: [laughter]
(John’s managers tell him he has to go)
J: Oh. Nice meeting you.
A: Thanks John.
J: Sure.
